Example: a large green region beside blue and warm brown regions
New here? Try a guided example.

A five-step tour: the tool loads the example, selects a region and shows the lighting comparison for you. Just follow Next. The sample is synthetic sRGB, not a measured material.

One click starts an automatic, step-by-step tour.

Quick Guide — Simple Steps
1Choose an image.
2Confirm sRGB and click Bind image → PKL.
3Click directly on a colour in the image.
4The frozen PKL source colour appears on the right.
5The clicked connected region is selected separately from all other occurrences of that PKL colour.
6Sort candidates and save interesting ones with → A / → B / → C.
7Choose a decision for the region, then export the decision JSON and binary region mask.

A small ΔE00 under D50 means a close match under D50. A small difference between the D50 and D65 colour distances means a more consistent match across these two lights. These are analysis results, not production approval.

The image is processed locally in this browser only. The frozen source_atlas_row_id is not overwritten by alternatives or metamerism analysis.

IMAGE / PICKER

After binding, click directly in the image.

Original PKL reference
Select a region to see its reference.
Selected alternative
Select a candidate or use the guided tour.
Choose an image, confirm sRGB, then bind deterministically.
Picker: waiting for PKL binding.
LARGE PREVIEW Uses the current view and fills the available work area below the picker.
Current view: Original

ALTERNATIVES A / B / C

Save three candidates at the same time and compare them in the image.

ALTERNATIVE A
No alternative assigned yet.
ALTERNATIVE B
No alternative assigned yet.
ALTERNATIVE C
No alternative assigned yet.

DECISION

Record the choice for the selected connected region. This never overwrites the frozen source identity.

DETERMINISTIC RECOMMENDATION Rule: candidates must pass the current anchor ΔE00 corridor. Then choose smallest multi-illuminant spread → smallest anchor ΔE00 → smaller atlas_row_id. The recommendation is not a production approval and is not committed until you confirm it.
No recommendation generated.
No decision recorded for this region.

REGION DECISIONS

Confirmed region decisions are stored in the current browser session. R001, R002… are session labels; the canonical region_id remains the reproducible region identity.

No confirmed region decisions yet.

“Changed regions” highlights only confirmed USE ALTERNATIVE regions. “Decision map” labels all confirmed regions, including KEEP SOURCE. Highlight overlays are UI annotations — not PKL/PHL reference colours.

Method / limitations

Reference Identity: Workflow v3.4.0 RGB-only. Integer squared RGB distance; exact tie → smaller atlas_row_id; K = UNLIMITED; Seed 42 documented/not used.

Alternatives: A/B/C are separate candidate/simulation layers. The source_atlas_row_id remains unchanged.

Metamerism: EXPERIMENTAL / SHADOW. Anchor and alternate illuminants are analysis choices made only after source identity freeze. Multi-illuminant rankings are not normative risk classes.

Spectral: ATLAS reference reflectance is limited to 380–730 nm. Built-in D50/D65 and uploaded SPDs are evaluated with the supplied CIE 1931 2° observer over that documented interval. Uploaded SPD provenance remains the user's responsibility.

PKL display: PKL mapped and A/B/C previews use the exact 8-bit RGB values of the active master rows. Pixel self-tests check row/RGB/HEX.

Production: DEVICE = NOT_PROVIDED. measured_qc_status = NOT_MEASURED. No production approval.
